3 super easy, healthy, and balanced breakfast ideas

As a kid, I wasn’t a huge breakfast person. I thought it was boring and bland because growing up, I was a picky eater and only exposed myself to standard American-advertisement staples like cereals, basic toast with jelly and butter, and Pop Tarts.

But in my teenage years, I grew an interest in eating healthier and started experimenting more with my breakfasts. Now, I love having breakfast every morning because I’ve discovered some healthy and tasty options that are convenient to make.

Here are three breakfasts I love that take five minutes or less to put together! —

  1. Peanut butter and banana toast

This is one of my go-to breakfasts. I originally got this idea from a lifestyle YouTuber named Reese Regan – I watched her videos a lot when I was 16 and felt eager to try her breakfast ideas.

Once I tried this one, I fell in love and never looked back. I love it because the combination of a sweet banana and creamy, salty peanut butter is very satisfying on top of toast. It also offers a good balance of carbs, fat, and protein.

Not to mention, it’s super easy to make, so it’s perfect for before school or work.

For the bread, I usually use whole wheat, but you can use whatever variety works for you.

As a few alternatives, peanut butter can be swapped with almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower butter!

  1. Avocado toast

This is another go-to breakfast of mine inspired by Reese. I love how cool and savory the avocado is and the way the creamy avocado complements the crunchy toast.

I usually mash my avocado up, spread it on whole wheat toast, and top it with hemp hearts, everything bagel seasoning, and Himalayan salt. I also often eat a hard-boiled egg with it to get some extra protein!

  1. Cottage cheese, berries, and nuts (or granola or seeds)

This one is perfect for when you want something cold and creamy. When I have this breakfast, I usually scoop about a half to two-thirds of a cup of cottage cheese into a bowl, and then I top it with grapes or strawberries and pecans and/or walnuts. The burst of fruit flavor contrasts nicely with the cottage cheese, and the nuts add a satisfying crunch.

For a dairy free option, cottage cheese can be swapped with macadamia or cashew cheese.

I hope you enjoyed this list of super quick yet nutritious breakfast ideas! Feel free to let me know if you’ve tried any of these and/or if you have any suggestions of your own.

Happy breakfast-ing!
