For many of us, the semester has come to an end, and it’s finally winter break! To celebrate your hard work over the semester and decompress after the stress of finals week, here are five fun and productive ways to spend your winter break.
- Catch up with a friend over coffee or lunch.
Since you may have friends who go to different schools or live out of town, now is the perfect time to reconnect with them and catch up.
Inviting a friend out for a casual lunch or coffee would be a great way to do this since it would give you both plenty of time to socialize as you enjoy a meal together.
- Read a good book.
I don’t know about you, but during the school year, I always feel like I don’t have enough time to read just for fun. That being said, winter break is a great time to look back at your reading list and read one or two books you’ve been dying to read.
- Start a creative project.
Since there aren’t any assignments you have to complete now, you have the freedom to work on any projects that you’ve been putting off! You could start a long-term project like making a film or writing a book, engage in a creative hobby like painting or writing poetry, or start up a new long-term endeavor such as a YouTube channel or business — the sky’s the limit.
- Spend a day out of town.
Breaks from school are great opportunities to explore a nearby city or town. You could spend a day in a new place sightseeing, shopping, visiting museums, and/or trying a new restaurant.
- Learn a new skill.
With an abundance of free time and the Internet at your fingertips, you can use your winter break to learn basically anything you want! You could learn specific skills that could help you in a future career, like coding, Excel, or a new language. Or, you could pick up a new hobby or creative endeavor, like learning an instrument or learning photography.
I hope this post gave you some ideas on how to have fun and take advantage of your time off. Do yourself a favor and spend your winter break doing things you find both enjoyable and worthwhile.
